LLMs can often help us work faster and explore new ideas. But because their answers often sound confident and convincing, it can be easy to stop noticing how much of the thinking we are still doing ourselves.

This 15-question, research-informed quiz explores how deliberately you use these tools. It gives you a snapshot of your current habits and helps you identify areas worth paying closer attention to.

Quiz developed by Roxana Seifer as a self-reflection tool. The quiz structure, scoring and result interpretations across the three dimensions were independently developed.

Some items were adapted from Varghese and Shama (2026), ‘Measuring human metacognition in GPT-assisted cognition’, with item wording and response formats modified. The wider conceptual framing was also informed by Tankelevitch et al. (2024), ‘The Metacognitive Demands and Opportunities of Generative AI’.
